City and Sheriffs - Alcohol Licensee Training Program
The City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station continue to hold monthly training classes to help educate our local business community on crime prevention topics to assist them in their daily business operations. The next class will focus on the local business community that sells and serves alcohol.
All alcohol licensees, store managers, restaurant managers, and representatives of establishments that offer both on and off-site alcoholic beverage sales and consumption are invited and encouraged to attend this free training session.
This four hour training session is hosted through the City of Santa Clarita’s Sheriff’s Business Relations Office and will be held at City Hall - Century Room, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Santa Clarita on Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Lunch will also be provided to registered attendees at no cost.
Working with the local office of the State of California, Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC), the LEAD Program (Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs) is a voluntary prevention and education program for retail licensees, their employees and applicants. It was started in 1991 through State funding and has trained over 100,000 people. The curriculum is designed for licensees, managers, and employees.
The mission of the LEAD Program is to provide high quality, effective and educationally sound training on alcohol responsibility and the law to California retail licensees and their employees. The Sheriff’s Department expects and encourages licensees to act responsibly relative to their alcoholic beverage license privileges.
The LEAD Program provides the licensee and applicant with practical information on serving alcoholic beverages safely, responsibly, and legally, and preventing illicit drug activity at the licensed establishment.
This is a very unique program, as the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and City of Santa Clarita join together with local businesses to protect them before an unlawful or unfortunate incident occurs. The City and Sheriff’s see themselves are proactive in the area of crime prevention, rather than reactive.
The Sheriff’s Department would like to remind everyone that “Preventing Crime in the City of Santa Clarita is Everyone’s Business.”
