Commit Crime? - Not in the Santa Clarita Valley - One adult and two juveniles were arrested Saturday night after an alert resident observed them apparently constructing a pipe bomb in the 19000 block of Friendly Valley Parkway. The resident detained the three until deputies arrived.
Deputies reportedly found evidence of a partially constructed pipe bomb and other materials used in the making of pipe bombs. Deputies closed off the area and detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Arson Explosives Detail responded.
All three individuals were arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. The male adult, age 18, of Newhall has been charged with three felony crimes, including Possession of Bomb Making Material, Exploding a Bomb and Possession of a Pipe bomb. He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail pending future court proceedings. His name has not yet been released.
The two youths, ages 15 and 17, of Saugus were booked on felony charges of Intent to Make a Destructive Device and one of them faces a misdemeanor charge of Possession of Dangerous Fireworks. They were each released on citations to their parents pending future court proceedings.
