D.U.I. / Drivers License Checkpoint

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station will be conducting a D.U.I. / Drivers License enforcement checkpoint beginning on Friday, September 28, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. and concluding at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, September 29, 2007.  The goal of the checkpoint is to educate the community on the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the D.U.I. laws of the State of California. The checkpoint is an ongoing attempt to safely remove drunk and unlicensed drivers from our streets and deter those who may be considering drinking and driving or operating a vehicle without a valid license. The location of the checkpoint will be determined based on previous D.U.I. activity and statistics.  The actual location will be announced at a later time.  Funding for this enforcement and prevention program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Traffic Department for additional information.

SCV - City and Sheriff's Launch Website

The City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station have entered into a technology partnership in a collaborative effort to design, develop, and launch a new state-of-the-art Sheriff's Station website - scvsheriff.com.  We have entered into this venture in an effort to expedite the release and flow of information to the public and better serve the needs of our growing community.

This website will help us educate the public on crime prevention matters, understand what the community wants and expects from their Sheriff's Department, and aid us in notifying you of current information critical to public safety - by utilizing the new Santa Clarita Valley Alerts web notification.  This web notification will be in addition to any current alert and notification systems already in place.  The Sheriff e-Notify and Sheriff e-Alert portions of the website will provide an area where community members can sign up to receive, directly from Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station, various information related to the latest news and press releases, Neighborhood Watch, SCV Alerts, the City of Santa Clarita's Sheriff's Business Alliance, youth programs, and "What's Happening" current events.  Phase one of this venture is scheduled to launch by Wednesday, September 26, 2007.

Future developmental phases will likely include interactive crime and traffic information, streaming video and podcasts capabilities and geographically smart databases, for those who sign up to be notified of various sheriff related events and alerts.  Also being considered for future phases are such things as, school safety and alert systems, detective bureau and other station resource areas, and Pitchess Detention Center (PDC) escape advisories - available via text message.  You are currently reading this release on the new SCV Sheriff's News Room which provides instant notification capabilities and direct feeds to community based news outlets.

The Chief of Police of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station, Captain Anthony La Berge, has committed to enhancing all levels of service to the residents in the Santa Clarita Valley.  He understands the necessity for providing real time information through today's technological platforms and intends to take your sheriff's station to the next level of service.  For questions, suggestions, comments or additional information, contact Sergeant Darren Harris of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661)255-4991, or use the brand new "Ask Sergeant Harris" feature on the NEW SCVSheriff.com
