FITE Program Honored

The City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley’s Sheriff Station received the prestigious California Crime Prevention Program of the Year award by the California Crime Prevention Officer’s Association for its unique Fraud and Identity Theft Education (FITE) Program. The annual California Crime Prevention Officer’s Association conference was hosted at the Omni San Diego Hotel on September 5th.

The review committee was impressed with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station’s Fraud and Identity Theft Education (FITE) Program’s originality, community involvement, and its measurable impact on the community in reducing crime.

The FITE Program partnered with the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce to educate, protect, and provide residents, seniors, and businesses with the knowledge needed to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud and identity theft.

The California Crime Prevention Awards honors meritorious contributions made by individuals and organizations for demonstrated leadership in the preservation of peace and public safety.
